White Rose Trees..
We’re just catching up from the summer and putting together new content to showcase the great work that has been happening around the farm.
Throughout 2022 and into the spring of 2023 we worked hard with Emma and the team from White Rose Forest to develop and implement a plan to rewood parts of the farm. With flooding a big issue in the River Swale catchment we utilised unproductive and flood prone land to plant trees and hedges in an effort to slow water run off and flooding. The design of planting will hopefully help to reduce flooding in other areas of the Swale and in particular, The city of York where widespread flooding is becoming a near annual event.
During April 2023, trees were sited on 17 Hectares of land which will stop water runoff and slow the speed at which water enters the river.
We hope the trees continue to flourish and will eventually create diverse habitats for wildlife as well as protecting areas from flooding.
